Will my treatment hurt?
Concern over pain is one of the most common reasons people avoid visiting the dentist regularly. For the most part, your dental treatment will not hurt. Most patients report little to no discomfort during routine treatments, such as dental cleans and check-ups.
If you need more invasive treatment, such as a filling or root canal, and we will fully numb the area with a local anaesthetic before proceeding. Any discomfort after the procedure can usually be alleviated with simple painkillers such as paracetamol and anti-inflammatory medicines.
If you are particularly anxious about visiting the dentist, we invite you to contact our Katoomba, NSW surgery ahead of time. Once we know you are nervous about treatment, we can do everything possible to make your time with us as comfortable as possible. Regular visits to the dentist often mean you can avoid more invasive treatments because we can usually detect—and fix—problems while they are still small. Taking good care of your teeth at home with routine brushing and flossing will also go a long way toward protecting your oral health, keeping the need for treatments to a minimum.
If you are overdue for a dental check-up and clean, call our dental clinic to book an appointment.
