Dentures & Partial Dentures
At Katoomba Dental Centre, we understand how tooth loss can impact many areas of your life. We know that chewing can be difficult or impossible. Your dentist understands that speech can be altered, and smiling may be particularly challenging. Fortunately, we offer a variety of tooth replacement options to restore your smile and quality of life, including dentures and partial dentures in Katoomba.
Dentures are a long-standing and practical solution to tooth loss. The materials, methods and final prosthetics are nothing like dentures from decades past—bulky, unnatural-looking, and not complimentary to your bone structure.
Today’s modern dentures in Katoomba allow for a natural-looking smile that fits and functions predictably, restoring your bite, diversifying your dietary choices and enhancing your smile aesthetics.
Our Denture Styles
We provide full dentures, partial dentures, and implant-supported dentures in our dental clinic. In some cases, patients opt for an implant-supported lower denture and removable upper—or any combination of options. Your dentist can help you decide on the best solution(s) for your smile goals and comfort.
Full or complete dentures take over when all teeth are missing or following total teeth extraction. Complete dentures are prosthetic teeth on a plate or arch that rely on gravity, suction and the contours of your jaw for support.
Partial Dentures work for partial tooth loss, provided your remaining teeth are healthy and can support this prosthetic. Partial dentures rely on gravity, the contours of your jaw, healthy adjacent teeth and often use clips for stabilisation.
If you’re looking for a long-term stable solution that does not require relines or the eventual need for adhesives, we can help.
Some patients want more stability than can be obtained by a traditional denture—for these patients, implant-supported dentures or other implant-supported prosthetics may be a good solution. Two or more dental implants are used secure dentures to prevent slipping and shifting while you speak and eat.
Our Denture Types
Today’s modern dentures and methods mean you have more choices than ever before. Not only can you choose tooth and gum colour, but you can also select the prosthetic type that best meets your needs based on your lifestyle.
Acrylic dentures are made of mouldable plastic. This material is adaptable and can acclimate to a degree to oral health changes, including early gum shrinkage—a natural occurrence when teeth are lost. We often use this material for complete and partial dentures.
Our chrome dentures are just as natural-looking as our acrylic prosthetics, but we design a metal framework to help better hold the restoring teeth in place. The lightweight metal is not visible, and some patients find this denture type more lightweight despite its durability.
Valplast dentures are made of thermoplastic nylon resin, a strong and long-lasting material. Because it is so durable, your dentist can construct a thinner and more flexible denture, which typically makes chewing more comfortable. This denture type is known for its ease of wear and flexibility. Many patients with previous experience of conventional acrylic dentures say that Valplast dentures are, by comparison, like having natural teeth again.
Learn Whether Dentures in 2780 Are Right for You
Your Katoomba dentist starts you with a consultation, and this usually includes x-rays if no recent or relevant films are on file. If dentures are right for you, we take careful impressions, and a trusted lab uses our results to create your custom denture or partial.
If you should need extractions or complex pre-treatments, we always use a gentle hand and offer three levels of dental sedation to see you through. At Katoomba Dental Centre, we believe that your journey to a new smile should be anxiety-free and comfortable. We’ll take care of the rest!
