Implant-Supported Dentures

Significant or full tooth loss may interfere with your diet, speech, and emotional well-being. At Katoomba Dental Centre, we offer tooth replacement options, including dentures and dental implants, to restore function and aesthetics.

We understand that some people don’t like to wear dentures, however, or eventually, stop wearing them because they are uncomfortable and don’t stay in place.

Implant-supported over-dentures mean that you’ll never have to worry about a loose or ill-fitting denture again. This technology merges the practicality of dentures with the innovation of dental implants to give you back your smile.

Your Katoomba dentist surgically places approximately four to six dental implants into your jaw in a minimally invasive procedure. This resolves the shifting issues with dentures, which may allow you to smile with confidence and indulge in a healthier diet. Because there is less irritation of the gum tissue, implant-supported dentures are typically more comfortable as well.

Our Zest Lodi implant system (or implant-supported over-dentures) is a low-cost alternative to All-on-4®.

Upgrade Your Smile with Implant Dentures in Blue Mountains!

Whether you're new to dentures or have worn them before, we want you to know that implant dentures in Katoomba are different. With implant dentures, you enjoy a complete smile without the hassle. Let us explain:

No Shifting, Rocking or Slipping

Unlike dentures that may need adhesives or relines over time, implant-supported dentures stay in place even when you're eating.

They Equal Easy Maintenance

Dental implants need to be cleaned like natural teeth, but they don't require special products or adjustments at the dental clinic.

They Are a Lasting Solution

With proper care, dental may last a lifetime. Even if you change the prosthetic denture, the implants should still be in place.

  • Free Implant Consultation

We want everyone to have the opportunity to explore implants as a viable option. This consultation is an obligation free appointment with our principal dentist to help answer questions and assess whether or not you would be a suitable candidate do any implant based treatments.

The appointment includes an intra-oral examination, OPG x-ray (if a recent one is not available) and a printed treatment plan with estimated costs.

For any person that wishes to move forward with implant treatment, we require a 3D x-ray (Cone beam CT), this is not covered under this offer and will carry an expense. This can be performed at the time of the consultation or at a separate appointment.

Not all patients will be suitable to have implant treatment, or potentially will require more extensive treatment to achieve the same results. The purpose of this consultation is to help identify early these possible indicators which may lead to increased risk or further treatment required. This process allows you to make an informed choice as to whether or not you would like to proceed with treatment.

Implant treatment is an invasive procedure and carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.

What Is the Process for Implant-Retained Over-Dentures in Blue Mountains?

Before your dentist gives the go-ahead for any tooth replacement or cosmetic dentistry option, we always provide a thorough examination of your teeth and gums. This typically includes x-rays.

At Katoomba Dental Centre, we’re offering a free consultation to help patients learn whether dental implants are a viable option. We want you to have all the information so you can make the right choice for your new smile.

If implant-retained over-dentures are right for you, we schedule the surgical placement of the implant into the bone.

After your surgery, it usually takes about three to six months for the implants to permanently integrate into the bone. This provides a sound foundation for your over-denture. In some cases, integration may take a bit longer for certain individuals—dependent on bone health, smoking, or certain medications.

When integration is complete, we fix your over-denture to the implants, and your new smile is complete.

Frequently Asked Questions

The team at Katoomba Dental Centre know how frustrating tooth loss can be. It can change your diet, speech and even influence your oral health. Tooth loss can also make smiling and laughing emotionally tricky.

Many patients with complete tooth loss turn to removable dentures as a practical tooth replacement option.

Of course, removable dentures are a good solution for tooth loss, but there are drawbacks, including slippage, rocking, and the eventual need for adhesives and in-clinic or laboratory relines.

The good news is that your dentist in Katoomba can combine dentures with dental implant technology to create a stable prosthetic that restores function whilst eliminating denture drawbacks.

For implant-supported dentures, we typically rely on four to six implants to secure your denture to your jaw. This is a straightforward undertaking performed under anesthesia. However, if you’re feeling particularly nervous, ask our implant dentist about sedation dentistry options and how they can help you feel more at ease.

The cost of dental implants in Katoomba varies for a few reasons, including:

  • The complexity of the case—Some implants require bone grafting, sinus lifts or other pretreatments, impacting cost.
  • The number of implants—We offer All-on-4, implant-supported prosthetics like dentures and single implants at various price points.

Fortunately, we offer a free consultation for dental implants. At this visit, you’ll learn whether you’re suitable for dental implants and how much it will cost to restore your smile. Your dentist will go over the options as well.

Single Dental Implants for Tooth Replacement

This option means a single replacement tooth root capped with a dental crown.

All-on-4 for a Full Smile

For this option, we rely on a low-profile prosthetic of restoring teeth to complete your smile. Typically, this means a full set of teeth secured with four dental implants.

Implant-Supported Prosthetics for a Secure Denture and Bridge

Implant-supported prosthetics can mean dentures or bridges secured with dental implants.

Dental implant patients come to our dental clinic from all areas, including Katoomba, Blue Mountains, Yosemite, Leura and your locale.

Our Katoomba dentists (and most dentists) recommend dental implants above other tooth replacement options. There are many reasons for this:

  • Dental implants are most like natural teeth because they replace the entire anatomy of your lost tooth, including the valuable root.
  • Dental implants are strong and lasting, allowing you to enjoy your meals and add new and exciting foods to your diet.
  • They are easy to take care of and require only what your natural teeth require—brushing, flossing, check-ups and teeth cleans.
  • Because dental implants are a fixed restoration, you may feel more secure when smiling and laughing with family members and your best mates.
  • Finally, dental implants are versatile, offering everything from single implants to All-on-4 and implant-supported dentures.

However, the first step is learning whether implant dentistry is suitable for you. To make this determination, your dental implant dentist has you in for a consultation. And at the time of this writing, we are offering free dental implant consultations in Katoomba!

Our free dental implant consultation is a no-obligation chat and check with the dentist. This visit will let you know whether you’re a suitable candidate for implant dentistry.

Our dentists serve many locations, including Katoomba, Blue Mountains, Yosemite, Leura and your area.

When you think of dental implants in Katoomba, you probably imagine a single tooth replacement, but we offer additional options in our dental clinic.

These options make implant dentistry accessible to patients with every level of tooth loss.

Single Dental Implants

Single dental implants are just what you might expect: a tooth root replacement surgically inserted into the gum. This new root is made of solid titanium, and it integrates into the bone. Then, we top your implant with a replacement tooth when the integration process finishes.

Implant-Supported Dentures

This option works for complete tooth loss, and the process is similar to single implant placement. We rely on four to six implants with implant-supported dentures to secure your prosthetic. As a result, you’ll never again have to worry about relines or a loosening denture.

All-on-4

All-on-4 is ideal for patients who do not want to wear dentures. This is a lower-profile arch of replacement teeth secured with four dental implants.

Is Implant Dentistry Right for You?

We encourage you to book a consultation with our implant dentist to determine whether implant dentistry is a smart choice for your tooth loss. In some cases, pretreatments may be in order to make you a better candidate.

For Dental Implants in Blue Mountains, We Encourage Your Call

We invite you to reach out today to learn more about implant dentistry and how it can work for you.

Dentures in Katoomba are time-tested tooth replacements. And most patients are excellent candidates for this type of prosthetic.

We offer various denture options to meet the needs of our patients, including:

  • Partial dentures
  • Full dentures
  • Implant-supported dentures

Your dentist will talk to you more about the options during your initial consultation, as well as whether dentures are a suitable tooth replacement for you. At this first look, we may take x-rays or perform specific exams to ensure your candidacy. We also answer your questions and address any concerns.

In some cases, we may recommend pretreatments. For example, if you’re considering complete dentures, we will have to extract any remaining teeth. If you’re considering a partial denture, your dentist will ensure the integrity of the supporting teeth and may need to remove one or more if they are not healthy enough to support a partial denture.

Full dentures stand in for complete tooth loss. Partials take over only where teeth are missing. Implant-supported dentures rely on four to six dental implants for a stable option.
