At Katoomba Dental Centre, we’re committed to your oral health, but we’re also concerned with the health of our planet. Our team focuses on sustainability and the practice of recycling whenever possible, and we work with local businesses and help them do the same. If ever we can contribute to our community through sustainability, we are keen to do so.

Let’s explore just a few ways your Katoomba dentist takes measures to stay green.

Sustainability Practices at Katoomba Dental Centre

Working with the Community

Katoomba Dental Centre has partnered with businesses throughout the community, including Blue Mountain Food Coop, to support and help implement sustainability practices. We also assist other companies in their recycling efforts.

We have also partnered with TerraCycle, which allows businesses to recycle from any location. Through this program, recycling contents can be labelled and shipped from a designated drop-off point, which can be any business in town!

Part of Our Daily Sustainability Model

In a busy medical or dental practice, sustainability can be challenging. A few of the ways we consider the planet and our community is through digital dentistry.

Traditional radiographic x-rays are hard on the planet. They require developer chemicals and components that eventually end up in a landfill. Through digital imaging, we can capture important images of your teeth and gums electronically. Digital imaging also means less radiation is emitted into the environment.

Additionally, we store patient files electronically, which cuts down on paper use and general waste. Likewise, our onsite milling machine allows your dentist to provide same-day dental restorations in Katoomba, eliminating parcel waste and fuel consumption. Patients also enjoy not having to wait weeks for specific restorations.
