About Orthodontics in the Blue Mountains

Orthodontics and Children

Early intervention for kids may mean they spend less time in braces later or forgo future orthodontics. However, all kids and situations are different, so your experience will vary. Your dentist will discuss how early intervention may help your child.

Interceptive orthodontics may include space maintainers, palatal expanders, or other options designed to help prevent orthodontic issues.

Space maintainers hold space for adult teeth if baby teeth are lost too soon. Meanwhile, expanders encourage jaw expansion and growth to accommodate adult teeth better.

Orthodontics for Adults

We’re pleased to offer ClearCorrect® in Katoomba. This clear aligner system helps with the following:

  • Crooked, Crowded and Overlapping Teeth
  • Large or Unusual Tooth Spacing
  • Bite Misalignment, Such as Overbite
  • How ClearCorrect® Works

To learn whether Invisalign is suitable for you, we have you come in for a consult with the dentist, which includes a chat, exam and related diagnostics.

If you choose to move forward with ClearCorrect, we take impressions, forward the results to ClearCorrect and await your custom aligners.

When they arrive in our dental clinic, you start treatment, wearing each set for approximately two weeks before moving on to the next.

After Orthodontic Treatment

After orthodontic treatment, your dentist creates a retainer to help protect your new smile alignment. It’s vital to wear your retainer as instructed to avoid orthodontic relapse.

In many cases, you eventually wear your retainer only at night.

Orthodontics Is About More Than Aesthetics

Besides the aesthetic benefits of clear aligner therapy, there are also oral health considerations.

  • Straight teeth are typically easier to brush and floss productively.
  • Straight teeth may mean less wear and tear on your smile.
  • An aligned bite supports jaw joint health.
